The calling on our lives…

WOW. Just WOW. I think this is the best blog post that I have ever read.

Here on my blog, I write about healing from PTSD. But in my opinion — indeed, in my personal experience — there is no healing apart from God. And the ultimate purpose of my healing, indeed, the ultimate purpose of my existence, is to honor God.

For most of my life, I did not know this. I was agnostic, almost an atheist, for many years. Oh how I regret those wasted years! But today, this is who I am: I am a Christian believer, a Christ follower, and for the rest of my existence, I want to honor and serve the Lord Jesus Christ in all that I do and all that I am. I don’t know how to do that perfectly, by any means. But His grace, love, and mercy covers all my failings.

“What’s your calling in life?”

Honoring God.

I saw this question on a blog post by Insanity Bytes (love her blog so hard!). I was so glad to see this question addressed this way, because it is the truth.

So many people believe God called them to do this or that, this or that and they will run with it right into the ground. Even when it is falling apart, they will cling to it, claiming, “This is God’s call on my life!! God has called me to{insert ministry or ministry position of your choice}”.

Well, maybe and maybe not.

We all have passions, gifts, and talents that can be put to good use to be sure. But, God’s calling on us, no matter which avenue we take to do it, is to honor Him.
